Council on Aging meets without quorum; kitchen hire approved.

Council on Aging · Meeting of March 9, 2026

Shirley's Council on Aging met without a quorum on March 9, preventing formal votes. Despite the shortfall, the board confirmed approval to hire a part-time kitchen worker for six hours per week beginning July 1, following successful budget discussions. Members Laurie Witherell and Marie Elwyn outlined program initiatives including partnership talks with Il Forno restaurant, a library-hosted book club at the senior center, a community garden to supply lunch ingredients, and volunteer recruitment for flower-bed maintenance.

The next meeting is April 13 at 11 a.m.
