Recreation Commission · Meeting of August 24, 2026

Shirley Recreation Commission moved toward a $500,000 Wilde Road Fields project with state support while reporting robust youth sports programs. Jonathan Deforge reported that State Senator Cronin planned to earmark $500,000 for the facility in the fiscal year 2028 budget and help rewrite soccer into recreation legislation. Shirley Youth Soccer reported 86 registrations including 48 K-2 players forming 4 teams, while Ayer Shirley Youth Soccer reported over 200 players in 15-15 teams.

The ASYS board voted to accept all waiting list players after the August 19 registration deadline. The commission postponed discussion of operating procedures and member discounts awaiting a full board.
