Shirley Select Board approves liquor license, emergency heating program.

Shirley Select Board grants liquor license to Net Fuel Inc., approves emergency heating program framework. Chair Brian Hildebrant, Vice Chair Andree Jean Jacques, and Clerk Debra Flagg voted 3-0 to approve a beer and wine license for the new gas station and convenience store, with activation required within one year; Town Attorney Peter Nicosia emphasized the town has ample licenses available and cannot reject based on proximity to competitors. The board authorized Town Administrator Bryan Sawyer to post a legal hearing for a $25,000-funded Emergency Heating System program, with first-come, first-served income-eligible applications.

The board also unanimously approved a $144,702 Green Communities Grant, opened the annual warrant, appointed five residents to various committees, and approved eight treasury warrants totaling nearly $1.17 million.
