Shirley Transportation Action Committee approves North Shirley Village Business District study request

Transportation Action Committee · Meeting of January 5, 2026

Shirley Transportation Action Committee unanimously approves North Shirley Village Business District study request. The committee, meeting January 27, 2025, endorsed a Unified Planning Work Program proposal for data collection along Route 2A from Townsend Road extending one-half mile east, covering three busy intersections at Townsend, Parker, and Longley Roads. Chair Theresa Richards reported that the Select Board earlier that evening approved the MassDOT All Way Stop Procurement Project for the Groton Road/Townsend Road intersection, which experienced approximately six angle crashes in 2024 alone and qualifies for the state program.

Richards will submit the interest form by February 7, with MassDOT providing engineering study and signage at no cost to the town.
