SHIRLEY — The Transportation Action Committee received updates on road safety initiatives and grant-funded planning projects. The Howard Stein Hudson consultant is conducting community outreach for a major planning grant, with a concert on the Common on June 26 and survey outreach at high-traffic locations. A thickly settled speed signage project aims to install 35 signs at 25 mph, while a Safety Zone in Shirley Center sets 20 mph speeds.

Police Chief Santiago confirmed the department will deploy officers to enforce the new speed limits and assist with traffic monitoring at multiple locations. The committee discussed safety concerns on Clark Road and visibility of School Street's one-way signage. With Ron Banay's resignation, the committee is seeking new members.
